Fleabane "Blütenmeer" (Seaside daisy, Mexican Daisy) - Erigeron karvinskianus = Erigeron mucronatus DC.
This low-growing perennial from Central America has become one of the most delightful discoveries in ornamental gardening in recent years. Although long considered a weed in Southern Europe, it is now a popular plant for hanging baskets, containers, and rock gardens, prized for its charm and ease of cultivation.
It forms a compact bush, perfect for pots and hanging arrangements. Numerous inflorescences resembling miniature daisies appear all summer on the tips of thin, highly branched stems. Flowers gradually change color — from pink to white and back to deep pink, creating a unique and lively effect.

Erigeron karvinskianus

Soil and care.
Undemanding, prefers light, well-drained, warm soils. Does not tolerate waterlogging. Performs best on moderately fertile, slightly alkaline soils.
After flowering, cut back stems to maintain decorative appearance.

Diseases and pests.
In damp and cold weather, it may be affected by fungal diseases. At the first signs (dark spots on leaves), treat with 1% Bordeaux mixture 3–4 times at 10-day intervals, or dust with ash. If severely affected, cut off the above-ground parts and destroy.
Propagation.
Propagated by seeds, division, and green cuttings.
For division, use 3–4-year-old plants; transplant in spring or late summer (August–September).
Sow seeds in March–April in trays (or in autumn). Prick out seedlings, plant outdoors in June with 25–30 cm spacing.
